Urgent PC

Many people are diagnosed with overactive bladder or urinary incontinence during their lifetimes.  Sometimes the symptoms are so severe that it affects quality of life. There is a new, minimally-invasive treatment option which may be right for you.

UrgentPC is a device that is attached to a slim needle electrode that is temporarily placed near the ankle. It sends electrical impulses which travel up the nerves in the leg to the nerves that control the bladder. Patients usually feel a sensation in the foot or ankle during therapy, but is generally welltolerated. Treatment consists of 12 sessions weekly, each lasting about 30 minutes. If the treatment works, you may require occasional treatments to sustain improvements.

There are few side-effects with Urgent PC. You might experience minor bleeding, mild pain and skin inflammation. Overall, there is a lower rate of system-wide side effects such as dry mouth and constipation. Studies have shown that 60-80% of patients see improvement with Urgent PC. Most patient see results in 5-7 weeks, although it is important to complete the 12 recommended treatments before evaluating whether this therapy is right for you.
